Faith Pan
Hi, I’m Faith Pan and I’m an incoming freshman at UC San Diego studying Molecular and Cell Biology. I’m on the pre-med track, but after a summer of interning with local government offices, I’ve become really interested in how public health intersects with and depends on policy. I joined SF Futuremakers to learn more about community-driven change and how young people can impact city progress.
Independent Project
My independent project, The Translation Initiative, focused on cultural preservation and storytelling through literary translation, specifically of Chinese and English narratives. It aimed to make aspects of Chinese intangible cultural heritage more accessible to younger and cross-cultural audiences by collecting, translating, and highlighting different types of intangible Chinese culture that would otherwise be hard to digest or unbearably hard to research. I hope this project sparks curiosity and encourages deeper connections across language and ideological lines.
