About
San Francisco Futuremakers is a paid summer internship program for high school and college students interested in public service.
Interns are placed with local partner organizations and complete an individual project over the course of eight weeks. Projects are designed by the intern in collaboration with their host organization and must contribute to a clear community need.
In addition to project work, interns participate in twice-weekly lunches throughout San Francisco, featuring guest speakers from government, media, and advocacy. These sessions focus on professional development and civic education.
Interns are also expected to:
Attend an in-person orientation and closing event
Submit weekly progress reports
Present their final project to elected officials and industry leaders at the end of the program
The 2025 cohort runs from July 1 to August 8, with an estimated time commitment of 8-10 hours per week, not including their work with a partner organization.
